The Maharaja's Elephants

Mon Nov 16, 2009, 6:05 AM
Hola!

As I checked the forum and I read several request and art trade offers, I just had a strange idea. I think I ask for something special from everybody who offers me drawing something for free. Something I rarely see drawn by amateurs but something which I am a fan of for a long time: war elephants! So I started to collect a full army of war elephants one-by-one with the help of those kind deviants (no matter how skilled they are) who took my request. The ready works will be seen in my Favourites gallery in the folder: The Maharaja's Elephants. I wonder how many of them will be drawn for me...maybe not only a few people cares about my sick interest watching war beasts crushing the enemy:) For this reason I love the paintings of Mughal artists too, who were seemingly enchanted with these animals and their acts - just google "mughal elephant" and see it yourself! Hey, maybe I am a Mughal painter's reincarnation - the only difference is that I suck at painting and I'm not Mughal!:)

If you are still interested in it:
- it's not a pay job
- I put all the art pieces which are sent to me into my Favourites
- I put every deviant's avatar into my Journal (hoping that someday there will be lots of full rows of icons there)
- I'm asking for drawings, paintings, pixel art etc. (traditional and digital both acceptible) of war elephants but it must be your original work
- deviants' skill level don't matter, but please try to do your best, not just throw something up for being mentioned in my Journal (because if I feel that kind of approach, I simply won't accept your work)
- style can be realistic, anime etc., it doesn't matter but please don't just copy an already existing image from the net
- if you have any questions or your piece is ready, please just send me a Note or a Comment.

Some clues about how they were equipped and used in battle and so: just google the keywords combined with "war elephant": mughal, Porus, Pyrrhos, Hannibal, Hamilcar, macedonian, indian, hellenistic. There are a few interesting videos about them on Youtube too.

My first mahouts are:

Dear Visitor!

Thanks for taking a look at my page! If you browse my gallery, you'll find mostly drawings, as my prefered artistic tools are pencils, charcoal and pens. But I also like experimenting with different tools and media, so I've tried to do paintings, photos, sculptings, body art etc. I've only learned drawing for three years in a private art school and at several courses, but I can't imagine my life without expressing myself by art.

I'm not satisfied with only one way of creation, I want to use many, always choosing the one which is the most capable for fulfill my actual ideas. This conception stands for everything what I'm doing in my life. My professions are trading manager, photographer and if nothing goes wrong, I'll be a qualified wildlife manager within a year.

I'm mostly interested in drawing comics and keeping small animals in captivity. Keeping and taking care of animals could be a form of art, too, not only a hobby, or science. It's similar not to a painting for example, but to a martial art, what you continuously do in your lifetime, and the more you practise it with the desire of understanding, the more knowledge you get. But it has no physical nor theoretical limit, as you don't live long enough to reach it.

I've a lot to learn, and I'm glad I'm not alone, as you accompany me on the way of self-improvement by your words on my works, and...

Ooohhh I've finally found my pills! So, thanks for your inquiry towards me!:)
